This is actually illegal in many parts of the world. If you break a specific seal (I think it's in the laptop) it'll break warranty. If desktop PCs do have an advantage in performance-per-dollar, it's the smallest it has ever been and hardly even worth talking about. So, while I do agree that pre-built desktops usually offer better value for the money, this time around it doesn't really seem to be the case, especially when you take the cost of a monitor and keyboard into account. Similarly, a hex core 3060 Omen desktop can be had for $1200, but it only has 8GB of RAM, and again, it doesn't have a monitor.Ī hex-core Gigabyte G5 laptop comes with a 3060 (and the mobile 3060 comes very close to the desktop one) and costs $1200 as well. I guess the laptop would come out slightly weaker, but the performance-per-dollar numbers are better. Look at this Corsair with a 3070 and an 11700.
In any event, though, I still don't think what you're saying about prebuilt desktops is universally true.
